The Ambassador

Jackie Kennedy
Jacqueline Lee Bouvier
She became Jackie Kennedy
Spent her childhood in N.Y.C.
She had such beauty and dandy
Mr.JFK swooned
When he laid eyes on Bouvier
He was smitten from there
and knew his wife was in the near
On a September day
people rejoiced as church bells rang
for the new Kennedy’s
Jackie’s face beamed and her heart sang
Then the campaign began
Youngest First Lady she would be
Death came for JFK
But don’t worry for Jackie Lee
Then she found love again
Aristotle Onassis named
And they lived happily
until once again Death too came
Widowed for twice a time
She buried Onasis to rest
While she heard the bells chime
She went to work to do her best
She became a writer
An editor at forty-six
She left after three years
But she always stayed in the mix
Her life’s work still lives on
In the culture of Washington
From the White House Garden
to the magnificent fountain
Jacqueline Lee Kennedy
Has left a legacy behind
for others to follow
Remember to keep her in mind
Writing about a Famous person poem inspired my choice. I was thinking about Jackie Kennedy and her life. I love Jackie Kennedy. I loved this assignment and the opportunity to write about her. Following the ryhem pattern was at times difficult. I changed a few lines in the poem.
