The Ambassador

This is my Time

 

“This is my time to shine/ This is my place to find/ All that I have inside/ I never knew/This is my time to show/ What I must have always known/ That nothing's impossible/ And dreams come true/ And dreams come true” This song, “This is My Time to Shine” by Raven Symon, is one of my favorites because it describes the way I feel during two important events in my life.  I have participated in many activities throughout high school, such as Cross-country, speech, Project 4 Teens, Link Leaders, FFA, Culinary, Culinary Management and being a 2015-2016 Sauk Rapids Ambassador; and I have the honor of  holding leadership positions in these activities. Three leadership activities I am most proud of is, being voted captain of my cross country team, being chosen as a Sauk Rapids Ambassador and being chosen to represent Sauk Rapids at the Minneapolis Aquatennial pageant this July.

At the end of the 2014 cross-country season, I was voted team captain for the 2015 captain. I was honored and surprised at this opportunity I was given. When I walked up to accepted my certificate a song came to mind, that described exactly how I felt. The song is, “This is my time to shine” by Raven Symone. This song was a description of how I felt because it truly was my time to shine. It was my time to show everyone what I was made of and lead our team into the next season.

Another amazing opportunity I was given; this past June, was crowned as the 2015-2016 Sauk Rapids Ambassador. The moment I was crowned, my high school dream came true. The song, “This is what Dreams are Made Of” by Hilary Duff, was playing when I got crowned. The song could not of been more perfect because I had wanted to be Sauk Rapids Royalty since I was a little girl and inspire others like past royalty inspired me to make a difference in my community. My high school dream truly came true that night, because it was the beginning of a journey that made me grow as a person and a better role model for my community.

Lastly, I was given the opportunity to represent the town of Sauk Rapids the upcoming July at the Minneapolis Aquatennial! It is a true honor to receive this opportunity because it only comes around once in a lifetime of a selected number of young women. Just like the song, “Everyday” by Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. The lyrics, “Once in a lifetime/ Means there’s no second chance” is the way I feel about Acquentienal. I have one chance at being chosen as an Ambassador of the Lakes, and I want to cherish every moment of this opportunity and adventures I will have while competing.

Overall throughout my life, music has inspired me and described the way I felt during extraordinary moments in my life. From the lyrics of “This is my Time to Shine” by Raven Symone to the lyrics of “Everyday” by Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, touche my life and my heart. The music occupies my memories almost as close as the moments itself.
